Haydon Construction Services were contacted by a property developer client who asked us to provide a construction cost estimate for a new self-build house which they had recently obtained planning permission for. The client needed a cost estimate from a quantity surveyor so they could get a loan approval in place to complete the construction work.
We were provided with the necessary information that allowed us take off the architect’s drawings and prepare a bill of quantities, which we priced using market rates. Where specifications were detailed, we incorporated these items into our estimate so that the developer had a more accurate cost allowance. The developer successfully secured funding for the project, and the cost estimate was used as a budget to hire a local builder.
